How did you get started in the bike world?

I lived in a rural area growing up and riding my bike was how I got places. I was already working on my own bike and asking the local shop owner (Dave) lots of questions. Then in high school I started working at my local store, Georgian Cycle. I was able to do a co-op program to finish my last few credits to get my high school diploma. I worked there the following summer also then headed out west to work at Panorama. I ended up working at Columbia Cycle here in Invermere for a summer, but then moved to Kelowna where I started at Olympia Cycle in Vernon with a friend. When the opportunity came, I moved to Cyclepath Kelowna and it was there I built a name for myself in the cycling industry. I then finished at Kelowna Cycle before moving back to the Columbia Valley to pursue my dream of owning my own bike shop.

How did you get started in the bike world?

When I was about 5 years old, my older cousin was racing BMX and I wanted a BMX bike so bad! I got his old race bike and I was hooked. I started mountain biking when I was 13 years old. I was racing XC and found that I needed to learn how to fix my own bike in time for the races because my local bike shop was always very busy during the spring and summer. I started working at Blocks Saw & Cycle in 2005 and learned more about bike maintenance and sales during my time there. In 2012 I started full-time at Dutch Cycle.

I’ve always loved bikes, all the components and gear etc., so the bike industry is a perfect fit for me.

How did you get started in the bike world?

I moved from the city to the country when I was 9 yrs old. My dream of being a professional inline skater were crushed because we lacked any pavement to ride on… The rest is history! I started building jumps and trails to ride my bike on. I was destroying all sorts of 90’s and early 2000’s bikes so I had to start learning how to fix my own stuff.
